This week, both the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) and the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) conducted invitation rounds under their respective Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), offering skilled individuals a pathway to Canadian permanent residency.
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) was established in 1998 to allow provinces and territories to nominate individuals for immigration based on their economic needs. While receiving a provincial nomination doesn’t guarantee permanent residency, it provides a significant advantage for candidates in the Express Entry system. A nomination adds 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, making it almost certain for the applicant to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in future draws.

Newfoundland & Labrador Approaches Maximum PNP Allocation
In a press release on October 8, 2024, Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Immigration announced it has nearly exhausted its 2024 allocation of provincial nominations.
Each year, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) sets targets for provincial nominations based on labor market needs and population growth. With the province approaching its limit for 2024, it will prioritize applicants in sectors facing critical labor shortages, such as healthcare, early learning, and construction.
While other applications will continue to be accepted under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP), most will not be processed until early 2025.
If you’re considering immigrating to Canada, these recent updates highlight the importance of applying through the right PNP stream for your profession. At Skynet Immigration, we can guide you through the process, ensuring your application stands out in a competitive field.
