This week, three Canadian provinces—Ontario, British Columbia, and Manitoba—issued provincial nominations to candidates through their respective Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).
Candidates were selected based on their work experience, occupational skills, and educational background. Each PNP has its own specific immigration streams, which target different aspects of a candidate’s profile, such as work experience or education. These streams often have sub-categories and use distinct scoring systems to evaluate and rank candidates, making it important to note that scores are not comparable across different PNPs.
Some PNP streams are “enhanced,” meaning they are aligned with the federal government’s Express Entry system. Candidates in the Express Entry pool who receive a provincial nomination gain an additional 600 CRS points, significantly increasing their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence through Express Entry.
